Breaking news: 'Jadon robbed' - Manchester United coach slams Premier League decision as Sancho denied Burnley goal..
Jadon Sancho got plenty of sympathy
from Manchester United fans after seemingly
scoring his first goal at Old Trafford –
only to have it cruelly taken away from him.
Recalled to the side after having to settle
for a place on the bench at Newcastle, the
former Borussia Dortmund forward put
United firmly in control as they doubled
their lead against Burnley.
Having gone in front thanks to Scott
McTominay’s opener, Sancho then put the
hosts firmly in the ascendency as he cut inside
from the left before directing his effort goalwards.
The ball nestled in at the far post, via a slight
deflection from Ben Mee, leaving Sancho to
celebrate his first goal at Old Trafford since
signing in the summer – or so he thought
After some deliberation, it was confirmed
by the Premier League that the goal had
in fact been awarded as a Mee own goal,
cruelly denying Sancho of his memorable
moment in front of the Streford End.
And having been elated for the England
international just moments before, United
fans couldn’t hide their disappointment at the
announcement from the Premier League.
Despite having his goal cruelly taken
away from him, there could be no denying
that the goal had come thanks to Sancho’s
individual brilliance.
The strike provided further evidence
that the England international is beginning
to find his feet with United, having initially
struggled following his summer move from
Dortmund.
Things got even better for United before
the break, with Cristiano Ronaldo making it
3-0 before Aaron Lennon pulled one back
for Burnley.
