Breaking news: Manchester United new French scouts back from scouting duties brought some good names to Ralf Ragnick’s table and Manchester are on the move to sign them ,Good news .
Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick
could utilise the services of new French academy
scout Jerome Klein to land a holding midfielder
in the January transfer window, according
to reports. Rangnick will be tasked with steadying
the ship as interim manager at Old Trafford
between now and the end of the season, at
which point he will move into a consultancy
role for a further period of two years.
The German coach has enjoyed an unbeaten
start to his temporary reign at United, registering
two wins and a draw from his three matches
in all competitions to date.
He managed to lift the Red Devils into
sixth place in the Premier League table with
victory over Norwich City in their last outing
before their scheduled match against Brighton
and Hove Albion on Saturday was postponed
due to COVID-19.
Rangnick will be looking to make one
or two additions to his United squad when the
transfer window opens next month in order
to boost their hopes of a top-four finish in
time for the business end of the season.
United have long been linked with the signing
of a new holding midfielder, with the likes of
Fred and Scott McTominay often struggling
to impress in the engine room in recent years.
The pair are yet to establish themselves
as a top-class partnership with the ability
to compete for Premier League titles, leading
to speculation that a move to replace
either player could soon be on the horizon.
United were interested in landing a
deep-lying midfielder over the summer,
but opted to channel their resources into
a late move for Cristiano Ronaldo after
splashing out on Jadon Sancho and Raphael
Varane earlier in the window.
However, it seems as though Rangnick
could revisit the possibility of strengthening
his midfield ranks over the coming weeks.
The Red Devils are prepared to back
their manager in the new year after it was
decided between senior figures that such a
move would be highly beneficial, according
to the Manchester Evening News.
It remains to be seen whether Klein, who
joined United last week, will be called
upon in a scouting capacity to run the rule
over potential targets in France.
The club have been linked with a move
for Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni
since the end of last season, but it remains
to be seen whether the 21-year-old is still
regarded as an option by those in command
at Old Trafford.
United were said to have denied reports
that Tchouameni was of interest to them
over the summer, suggesting that Klein could
be tasked with finding another solution from
across the Channel.
Boubacar Kamara of Marseille has also
been tipped to join United in the mid-season
window after impressing in Ligue 1 as of late.
However, a number of non-French midfield
targets have also been mentioned in connection
with the Red Devils, including England ace
Declan Rice and Ivorian playmaker Franck
Kessie.
Meanwhile, former Liverpool winger Steve
McManaman recently urged United to chase
a move for Borussia Dortmund starlet Jude
Bellingham, who has also been linked with
the Anfield club ahead of next month.
"He has got all the attributes to be a
superstar," McManaman told horseracing.net.
"I think United need a centre midfielder
of that ilk. Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata
are coming to the end of their careers and
Paul Pogba may leave.
"So if there’s one team that needs a player
like Jude Bellingham, it’s Manchester United."
