Breaking news: Ralf Ragnick identifies a player that if Manchester sell , he is leaving the club , as Manchester United board wants to sell star man .
That’s according to former West Ham
hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively
to Football Insider about “one of the
best attackers at Man United.”
According to the Austin blog (20 December)
, superstar Cavani is a target for Barcelona
in January as they search for a Sergio
Aguero replacement.
However, the report claims the Red
Devils are keen to keep the veteran striker
at Old Trafford.
McAvennie insists the striker can still
play a crucial role this season.
“You have to keep him,” McAvennie told
Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He’s got to be one of the best attackers
at Man United. For me, there are few
strikers better than Cavani on his day.
“You have a 20-plus goal striker there.
He hasn’t quite shown it this season but
we saw it last year.
“Stick him in attack and give him the
same number of chances as Ronaldo, you
will see a similar goal return.
“Letting him go is madness. He can still do
a job, a great job.
“I’m a big fan of his and I don’t know
why he’s not playing more. Maybe it’s because
there is an emphasis on the younger players
at Man United.
“That’s fine but sometimes you need
experience and Cavani has over 300
career goals.”
Cavani has made eight appearances in
all competitions for Manchester United
this season and scored one goal.
He is yet to make an appearance under
Ralf Rangnick.
